At breakfast a few Dutch, no others, there are only five rooms. Today I will go East to the Coast.
The countryside reminds me a bit of New Zealand, just as green, same hills and also a sheer amount of sheep.
Kinross is the first stop, actually the Leven Castle in Loch Leven. With two people from Ukraine who live in London and two Australians and the skipper we sail to the small island. The castle, now a ruin, once was a prison as so many. Being there with only a few people, one of the advantages of holiday in June, gives a nice feeling.
Here I bought my Scotland Explorer pass which will give me free entry to many sites.
Traveling along the coast, great weather like yesterday, brings more people out. Arriving in St. Andrews thus takes some time to find a parking spot. Driving through already gives me a good taste, walking even better, great ancient town. I start at the Tourist Office to get a map as now I am here I cannot afford to miss the Old Course, the famous Golf Course, actually Golf is invented here.
But first I had me to find a seat for lunch as the Dutch are playing against Japan. I ordered the Fish and Chips. You would say it is difficult to mess that up, but the fish was almost exploded. The game did no good either ... we won though.
The town is a treat, great ancient buildings like the Cathedral and the Castle all very near to the see, a very scenic place not to be missed.
After visiting MUSA, the Museum of the oldest university in the UK I ended up at the Old Course. It is just like the scenes at TV. It is even possible to walk at the 18th with the famous small bridge which you have to pass ending your game. You can not go in the club house, you can however do some putting, but people doing so are no golfers. Actually getting tee time can take years at the New Course.
Driving back through the hills, having a drink in the bar with my "friends" from yesterday who of course are there again, ending a very nice day. Tomorrow travel again going to my next hotel at Tomintoul about 200 Km North.
